Elite volleyball teams from different parts of Southeast Asia came together at the SEA V Cup 2026 to battle for regional supremacy. Across the two legs of the SEA V Cup 2026, Thailand was crowned as the dominant force of the women’s category while Cambodia and Vietnam claimed the men’s title in the first and second legs of the event, respectively.
The tournament also saw impressive runs of other teams, including the Philippines taking home the silver in women’s Leg 2 competition and placing overall fifth in men’s.
Prevailing Across Two Legs
On Leg 1 of the men’s competition, Cambodia captured its maiden victory after stunning regional powerhouse Indonesia in a riveting five-set final with scores of 25-23, 28-26, 23-25, 22-25, 15-11. Voeurn Veasna of Cambodia emerged as the top scorer of the game with 29 points, followed by Kuon Mom contributing 27 points to seal the victory.
After Cambodia ruled Leg 1, Vietnam earned the second-leg crown with its strong showing that overcame the opposing team, Thailand. Vietnam closed out the final with 22–25, 25–23, 25–19, 15–25, 15–10, powered by Nguyễn Ngọc Thuân’s outstanding 31-point performance.
Both Cambodia and Vietnam were able to secure their spots in the 2027 AVC Men’s Volleyball Cup after winning the tournament.
Back-to-Back Wins for Thailand
At the center of the women’s game, Thailand capped a dominant campaign after making a clean sweep throughout the two-leg series. The champions defeated Vietnam on Leg 1, 25–20, 26–28, 25–19, 25–21, and the Philippines on Leg 2 with scores of 25–18, 23–25, 25–20, 25–16.
Outside hitter Sasipaporn Janthawisut was awarded Tournament MVP on both legs for her consistent scoring and relentless attacks.
Historic Finish for Alas Pilipinas
The Philippines made impressive finishes through its team Alas Pilipinas, despite not claiming the championship. In their Leg 2 participation, Alas Pilipinas Women wrapped up their tournament journey with a silver medal after beating Indonesia, 25-13, 23-25, 25-19, and 33-31, with Eya Laure, Alyssa Solomon, and Bella Belen coming out as the key players of the game. Meanwhile, the men’s team Alas Pilipinas finished 5th overall after missing the semifinals and earning a 1-2 record on both legs of the event.
From hard-fought sets to decisive finishes, the 2026 SEA V Cup delivered plenty of action throughout its run, and it once again underscored the growing competitiveness of the teams and strong presence of the sport in the region.
