The world’s tennis stars gathered on the first Grand Slam of the 2026 tennis season, the Australian Open, which was held at Melbourne Park from January 18 to February 1. Across the intense two weeks, the tournament delivered breathtaking rallies, epic matches, and triumphant victories that defined the whole event. 

Inside the Men’s Title Run 

In the men’s singles finals, tennis stars Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic faced each other on the hard court. Djokovic took control in the opening set, then Alcaraz seized momentum with his attacking power and movement in the next sets. 

After a showcase of resilience and a thrilling clash between the two, Alcaraz powered past Djokovic, closing out a 2–6, 6–2, 6–3, 7–5 victory to clinch his very first Melbourne crown. This historic win also added another milestone for Alcaraz, becoming the youngest man in history to complete the Career Grand Slam at 22 years old. 

Women’s Finals Breakdown 

The women’s final game brought together two of the most powerful tennis players, Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka, unfolding a gripping contest of power in pursuit of the title. 

Both displayed strength and tactical execution throughout the game. After an intense three-set showdown, Rybakina defeated Sabalenka 6–4, 4–6, and 6–4. As the match concluded, she was officially declared the Australian Open’s champion in the women’s singles category. 

Wrapping Up the Doubles 

The men’s doubles crown went to Christian Harrison and Neal Skupski over the Australian duo Jason Kubler and Marc Polmans after securing 7–6(7–4), 6–4. 

Meanwhile, the tournament saw the triumph of the Belgian-Chinese duo, Elise Mertens and Zhang Shuai, after defeating Anna Danilina and Aleksandra Krunic with 7-6(7-4), 6-4 in the women’s doubles. The mixed doubles crown also remained in the home court as Australian duo Olivia Gadecki and John Peers captured the championship title with 4–6, 6–3, [10–8].  

As the Australian Open ends, the attention now shifts to the second Grand Slam event of the year, the French Open. The said tournament is scheduled to take place from May 24 to June 7, 2026.
