With the regular season ongoing, the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) games continue taking shape the overall standings as North and South teams remain determined in pursuit of taking the shot to the top. As the action heats up across the league, get to know those who are currently leading the pack and those chasing the title behind.
Rising to the North
The battle on the North Division is alive, as 2025 defending champions Abra Weavers holds firm atop with an 18-1 win-loss record, followed by Batang Kankaloo keeping close in second.
The third spot goes to San Juan Knights, while Ilagan Isabela Cowboys, Pasig City, Meycauyan and Pasay Voyagers refused to lose sight in the first half of the rankings. The lower half of the standings, consisting of Quezon City, Valenzuela Darkhorse, and the rest remain in search of their momentum as the season progresses.
Supremacy on South
The South Division, on the other hand, has Batangas City out front with a 17-3 win-loss record. 2025 finalist Quezon Huskers trails closely in second, still looking to strengthen position for the first place as games intensify.
Behind the top two, Binan Tatak Gel, GenSan Warriors, Cebu Greats and Rizal Golden Coolers are placed third up to the sixth spots respectively, keeping the pressure on hopefully climbing the rankings. Remaining teams such as Mindoro Tamaraws, Basilan Steel and others are locked in to chase the higher spots.
The Road Ahead
While some teams gained an early advantage to potentially advance in the next games, there are still plenty of matches left to play in the MPBL regular season and the standings are far from settled.
The road to the postseason gets more intense with changing momentums from time to time, and the next round of games could dramatically reshape the outcome of the league.
