The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) marked its golden season, celebrating 50 years of legacy that has shaped generations of Filipino players and fans, while also serving as a testament to the league’s longevity and resilience in the evolving sports landscape.
In honor of Asia’s pioneering pro league, the season rolled out various offers and initiatives, including fan-centric activities, legend tributes, community programs, and an extended calendar of local and international games that make the celebration even more exciting and special.
The Start of 2025-2026 Campaign
With the theme “Solid ang Galing, Solid ang Laban”, a grandiose opening event was held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last October 5, 2025, signaling the start of PBA’s year-long celebration, which brought together past and present generations of fans, basketball legends, and stakeholders.
A blend of nostalgia, entertainment, and high praises filled the area as PBA icons such as Ramon Fernandez, Atoy Co, Vergel Meneses, alongside active standouts, such as June Mar Fajardo, Scottie Thompson, and other notable figures, were in attendance during the ceremony.
It featured the unveiling of PBA’s special commemorative logo, live performances, and special recognition of the 50 Greatest Players and Hall of Famers. The iconic Manila Clasico, a rivalry between Barangay Ginebra and Magnolia Hotshots, was held as the opening game of the season, giving a high-energy showdown for the audience.
Competitive Play Highlights
Beyond grand festivities and fan engagements, PBA has remained anchored in delivering competitive basketball. Twelve active teams continue to deliver fierce competition in the court as the 50th PBA season progresses.
San Miguel Beermen and Rain or Shine Elasto Painters are recently in the lead, followed by TNT Tropang 5G and Converge FiberXers. Other teams—Meralco Bolts, Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, NLEX Road Warriors, Phoenix, Blackwater Bossing, Titan Giant Ultra Risers, and Terrafirma Dyip—are also determined to secure wins and to climb in the league standings.
Key players have been showing impressive performances throughout the games, contributing to the victories of their respective teams. Several squads have also relied on consistent scoring and rebounds, while others traded wins to make it to the top standings.
